Yes, you are reading this correctly. I made $10K in a month on my Interior Design Blog.

How I made $10K in a month on my Interior Design Blog by Dina Marie Joy at www.dinamariejoydesigns.com

How I started!

First, I had my website up for several months before I figured out everything. I started with a Squarespace Website and I started building it myself. Then I started researching how to monetize my website in between client meetings, and designing. I listened to Podcasts, I read the books, I watched Youtube, and I read many articles I found on Pinterest.

I knew that in order for Google to show my website on Page 1, it needed to be updated on a regular basis and traditionally on a Professional Interior Design Website, the only updating you do is add new pictures of new jobs completed. Am I right?

Knowing this about Google I knew I needed to add a Blog and I also knew I needed to add content on a regular basis. So the process began. I am not going to lie, this is very hard to do as an Interior Designer because you are already doing so much client work, there is not a lot of time to Blog. Honestly, I am still working on this. This is a goal, to post at least once a week.

Next Step

Sign up to be an Affiliate with Target, Wayfair, and Amazon. As an Interior Designer these are some of the sources I use daily for my clients. If I recommend to them to purchase a product from one of these three stores and I send them my affiliate link, they make the purchase and I make a commission.  It is really that simple. You can sign up with other Affiliate Companies that you use, just do some research on Affiliate Marketing and find the one’s that work for you.

Now the Website/Blog is Up and you are Signed up with some Affiliate Marketing Accounts

Well, now the real fun begins. It is all about Marketing at this point. What Social Media works best for you?Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest? For me it is Pinterest. Pinterest sends the most traffic to my website. It is really important that you figure this out and stick with the one that works best for you, and everyone is different. What works for you might not work for me when it comes to Social Media.

Each time I write a Blog Post, I use a few images on the Blog Post and I add all of them to Pinterest. I put them on different boards and then I wait for the clicking to begin. Pinterest has made Affiliate Sales for me, I have been hired several times from my Blog Post’s and recently I started doing Consulting helping other designers with monetizing their website/blog.

Here is the Breakdown of my monthly sales from my Blog

Affiliate Commissions - $3250

Freelance - E-Design, Renderings, Design Clients - $5000

Consulting - $1750
